Meanwhile, Elizabeth Wurtzel, the author of Bitch and Prozac Nation, argues in nerve.com's Bare vs. Hair Debate that "we women don't feel entirely female unless we're slaves to beauty."

Huge sisterhood fails, ladies. No woman wants to feel like a slave to grooming; and implying that beauty isn't about choice, is missing all the fun is has to offer. (Lipstick Queen in Saint Rouge is not my master, but my elected official. And when I'm not wearing it, I still have two X chromosomes.)
